Family Council

The Inwood Academy Family Council is a group of family leaders who work to develop an active and involved family body and serves as an avenue of communication between families, administration, and faculty. In loving memory of Altagracia Cassadean, we wanted to take a moment to acknowledge her leadership, love, and dedication to our team. She was the President and Founder of the Together We Can support group for parents of IAL. We have fond memories of Altagracia and miss her dearly. Our condolences to her family and everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. IAL elections will be held for parent leadership positions in January, and in the interim, Ms. Wanda Mora will be leading the Family Council and Ms. Carmen Pichardo will be leading Together We Can. Questions? Please contact Tatiana Mahoney Monday-Friday from 8 am - 4 pm at 646-906-4111.

Family Council Meetings

The Family Council meets once a month and translation and child care are provided at meetings if you RSVP in advance. The meetings are a great place to get the latest school news, provide feedback on important school-wide decisions and take an active role in planning and carrying out family events. Workshops & Leadership Series

Family Workshops & Leadership Traits series give you opportunities to learn new information and skills and form stronger relationships in the school community and with your child. Inwood Academy offers a variety of trainings based on families’ interests and needs throughout the school year.

Family Week of Service

Family Week of Service is an opportunity for students and staff to exemplify leadership to our neighborhood by making improvements in the Inwood community. It also gives us time outside of the school to deepen the relationships with our students and families. This year, we will celebrate a Family Week of Service from June 1-4, 2021.

Culture Night and Resource Fair

For Hispanic Heritage Month, we hosted our first Culture Night and Resource Fair where we tasted delicious dishes prepared by our students and their families, enjoyed folkloric music and dancing, and learned about the many resources our community offers.
