Academic Program

We educate the entire child. We want to graduate students who have good character and the social, emotional and cognitive skills needed to be successful in college and beyond. We spend time developing relationships with students and their families to give us a deeper understanding so we can address the needs of our learners.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

Our goal is to graduate 100% of our students and ensure they have multiple pathways to succeed in life. To achieve this goal, we are building our rigorous standards and curricula and providing teachers with the right training and coaching.

Our curriculum is 100% aligned with Common Core and we set goals for all our students. The assessment tool we use that enables us to set individual student goals is the Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measure of Academic Progress (MAP). We administer the test to all students at the beginning, middle and end of each school year. NWEA MAP is a nationally normed, state approved, computerized adaptive assessment tool, offering age appropriate content that adjusts up or down in difficulty depending on student responses to the previous question. Equally important, our teachers regularly analyze student data to drive daily classroom instruction.

For students who progress at a faster pace, we provide advanced programs during the school day. For students who need intervention to support classroom curriculum, whether it's those who have plateaued, require remediation, or have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), our Academic Intervention Team provides a wide-variety of services during the school day to meet their needs.

SCHOOL CULTURE

At Inwood Academy, we thrive based on believing in the potential of all students and providing a caring and loving environment. We are deeply committed to academic rigor, building character, and establishing trusting relationships with our students.

We believe honesty, integrity, responsibility, caring, and restraint are traits that contribute to well-rounded individuals who care, give back, and lead. We instill collaboration and a sense of community through daily advisory classes and give students a platform to learn and practice leadership through community service projects within and outside the school.

EXTENDED TIME

Extended school days and significant after school, Saturday school, and summer programming contribute to extra hours of academic instruction and test preparation each year.
